Military Contingent

Military_contingent_photoRead the "Request for Guidance Regarding the San Diego Pride Parade" from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense that allows servicemembers to march in the Parade.

If you have not registered and are still interested in marching with the Military Contingent, simply show up!  Meet time is for Parade is 10:00 am, Saturday, July 21, at the intersection of Harvey Milk Street and Normal Street.  Look for the big military truck!

This is the first Pride season in the post-DADT world.   As you know, San Diego LGBT Pride made history last year with the first active duty military contingent in a Pride Parade in the U.S.  We did this while DADT was still in effect, and as such many active duty servicemembers did not participate or attend Pride.

This year we want to support our LGBT servicemembers even more!   Our theme this year is “America’s Pride” because equality is an American value.  Honoring our servicemembers and veterans is an important part of this message.

To register to walk in the America's Pride Parade, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Participants are asked to wear either a branch specific T-shirt, or their service uniform provided servicemembers.  Members of the Coast Guard must still apply for approval to wear their uniforms. See "Request for Guidance Regarding the San Diego Pride Parade" for details.

For information on how to properly apply for approval of wearing your uniform in the Parade please read OutServe's Guidelines.

In the mean time, please visit our Facebook page and invite your friends to join as well!
