Amanda Nelson

Amanda serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for San Diego Pride, providing strategic and innovative leadership in telling the stories of Pride’s year-round programming and advocacy efforts.

Prior to joining San Diego Pride, Amanda worked with organizations including San Diego Housing Federation and San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. Amanda also ran a video production company that worked with nonprofits, such as San Diego Pride and Balboa Park Conservancy. She has a master’s in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from University of San Diego and a bachelor’s in Mass Communications from University of Utah.

Amanda has a history of leadership within San Diego, sitting as a board member of Mission Hills Town Council and Public Relations Society of America. She’s also a committee member with Circulate San Diego, Regional Task Force on Homelessness, and Balboa Park Advisory Council. Amanda ran for Uptown Planners in 2021 and believes in housing affordability and accessibility for all. She enjoys her daily bus commute,  camping with her partner, reading non-fiction, and exploring everything San Diego has offer.
