Romer first joined the San Diego LGBT Pride Board of Directors in late 2007 where he immediately assumed the role of secretary. He has since held the positions of Chair of the Board Development Committee and Chair of the Policy and Strategic Planning Committee. Romer received his B.S. in biomedical engineering in 1999 from the University of Southern California, where he has served as President of the Associated Students of Biomedical Engineering, was elected Mr. USC Engineer, and was the recipient of the USC Engineering Alumni Association Award for Excellence in Leadership. He has focused his career at restoring human dignity and improving the quality of life of all people through the development of lifesaving medical technology and his service to San Diego Pride. He is a former competitive swimmer, cross-country runner, and triathlete who has wrestled with the San Diego Bulldogs Wrestling Team and swam with the Different Strokes Swim Team, but has since retired from any competition in favor of quieter activities like surfing and mediating heated board meetings.
