Dr. Nathian Shae Rodriguez identifies as a First-gen Queer of Color Professor and is an Assistant Professor in the School of Journalism & Media Studies at San Diego State University. His talk will focus on the intersectional identities, with a particular focus on being a first-generation college student. Often, first -gen students experience a sense of incongruity while navigating the college/university system, seeking a sense of belonging. Dr. Rodriugez will talk about his personal experiences in academia and provide resources and consejos for students who may be experiencing the same intersections of lived experiences.
