The Studio Door PROUD+ Exhibition

Known for collaborating across the spectrum, locally and nationally, The Studio Door will be doing both with PROUD+. The non-profit Art of Pride San Diego will participate in a two-day pop up at the gallery that will take place on the weekend of July 17. Additionally, local artists Eric Benson and Roy de Vries artworks will be featured in the gallery to bring attention to their unique bodies of work.
This year’s exhibition juror is Hunter O’Hanian, Executive Director of Stonewall National Museum & Archives (SNMA) in Fort Lauderdale & Wilton Manors, Florida. One of the largest gay archives and libraries in the US, Stonewall inspires and promtoes understanding through collecting, preserving and sharing the proud culture of LGBTQ Americans. Hunter has an illustrious career in the arts, which has included being the head of the College Art Association; a founding director of the Leslie-Lohan Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art; Director of the Foundation for Massachusetts College of Art & Design; Director of Fine Arts Work Center; and author of countless articles and papers including 2018’s A Reprobate Sense – The Illustrated Version of Peter Damian’s Book of Gomorrah.
The Studio Door is located at 3867 Fourth Avenue in Hillcrest. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from Noon – 7 PM. The business was recently recognized by the community with a Nicky Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts.
