Diversionary, the nation’s third oldest LGBTQ theatre, announces Teen-Versionary Online in partnership with San Diego Pride & The Old Globe‘s CoLab program!

Join Diversionary’s FREE teen theatre ensemble exploring the LGBTQ experience, and collaborate with The Old Globe, and San Diego Pride, to create a new theatrical production that will be part of the San Diego Virtual Pride Festival July 18+19th!

Diversionary strives to be flexible with your time commitment and the schedule will be based on each play’s rehearsal needs.

Teen-Versionary rehearsals are Monday through Friday, July 6th through the 17th, 11am-12:30pm & 1:30pm-3:00pm with lunch in between the two daily sessions.

Teen-Versionary offers a unique experience where participants work on short scripted plays written by professional playwrights while creating new content exploring the theme: Together We Rise! Our ensemble, made up of LGBTQ teens and their Allies, creates a safe space to connect with others, and be a part of a unique and creative ensemble. Through a two week rehearsal and writing process, the teen ensemble will get a taste of professional theatre in a fast-paced online environment. Participants will have an opportunity to either work on a new short play, or write new content, all of which will be showcased in this year’s virtual Pride Festival.

Folks aged 13 to recent high school graduates are welcomed to apply for Teen-Versionary. Anyone who wants to be part of an inclusive, queer, theatre-making experience is encouraged to apply.

This program is 100% FREE, but if you would like to make a donation, or to learn more, email Diversionary’s Director of Arts Education and Outreach Skyler Sullivan at: [email protected] or call at 619-220-6830 ext. 204
