Curated for San Diego audiences by HRW and MOPA organizers, five stories will generate dialogue and action around pressing social issues facing our society today.
Catch “I am Samuel” as part of the lineup. About the film: Sam moves to Nairobi from the Kenyan countryside in search of a new life, where he finds belonging with a community of fellow queer men and falls in love with Alex. With his father not understanding why Samuel is not yet married, he must navigate the risk that being truthful may cost him his family’s acceptance.
This year, our community now has the opportunity to participate in the San Diego Human Rights Watch Film Festival from their home. All films can be accessed anytime between February 2 – 8. Additionally, guests can engage with local or broader narratives at post-streaming forums and Q&As online (see schedule below).
