About:
Melanie is a child of Filipino immigrants, was born in Milan, Italy, moved to Los Angeles at the age of 8 and to San Diego for undergrad at UC San Diego (History & Ethnic Studies). San Diego is Melanie’s first true home, and their “origins” background has greatly influenced their perspective on what it means to be a person of color, an immigrant, and a U.S. citizen.
Melanie’s professional background is in Communication, Events, and Marketing in non-profit, music festival industries, as well as and Asian-American communities. Melanie has worked with Community Associations Institute, Five Group Marketing and Silk Road Productions.
During their free time, you can find Melanie dancing, taking photos, advocating for the environment, and attending community events throughout San Diego.
