LGBT Youth group shotSpeak OUT About School: Student Essay Contest San Diego Pride, the San Diego LGBT Community Center, The Trevor Project - San Diego, PFLAG San Diego County, and GLSEN San Diego County have joined forces to launch the Speak OUT About School: Student Essay Contest aimed at empowering LGBTQ+ youth to share their biggest challenges and most supportive experiences with our local school system. It is our hope that by lifting up more student voices we can continue to better understand and support the needs of LGBTQ+ youth in our schools. This contest is open from November 12 - 30, 2015, to junior high and high school aged youth who are currently enrolled within the San Diego Unified School District. Winners will be notified by December 11, 2015. Aggregated & summarized essay results (not identified by authors or identifying information) will be shared with relevant organizations and policy makers. Prizes: First Place: $250.00 Cash Prize and PlayStation 4 Second Place: $150.00 Cash Prize and Sony Electronics Package Third Place: $100.00 Cash Prize and Sony Electronics Package Contest is closed. Winners will be notified by December 11, 2015. Public announcement will follow shortly there after.
