Join us in celebrating the rich diversity of San Diego’s transgender community on Friday, April 8th, 2016, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at The San Diego LGBT Community Center’s auditorium in Hillcrest (3909 Centre Street.)  This year’s program is youth-focused and will include: speakers, entertainment, refreshments, awards and the announcement of the 2nd Annual Tracie Jada O’Brien Transgender Student Scholarship! This event is free and open to all.

If you are a San Diego student who identifies as transgender or outside of the gender binary and are planning to a enroll or continue to attend a 2-year College, 4-year College, technical, grad school or vocational training program, please fill out the application online here or download the application here for the Tracie Jada O’Brien Transgender Student Scholarship program. Applications are due March 31, 2016. Submit applications to the Pride offices at 3620 30th Street, San Diego, CA. 92104. Scholarships will be awarded on April 8, 2016.


In 2015, we were happy to award scholarships to four local San Diego Students! This year, California Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins has generously pledged a $1500 match towards the scholarships. San Diego Pride will act as fiscal sponsor of the event and those interested in donating towards the scholarships can donate at: and put the words “Trans Scholarship” in the comment section. As always, 100% of funds raised will go directly to transgender students here in San Diego.
