Ady Huertas (she/ella)
Ady Huertas is a dedicated librarian with 28 years of experience working in public libraries who is a strong advocate for libraries as inclusive spaces that provide equitable and accessible programs, collections, and services for everyone. She serves as the Program Manager of Youth, Family, & Equity Services and is passionate about supporting youth, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and Immigrant communities and is committed to removing barriers and creating safe welcoming spaces through authentic engagement and equitable practices.
Ady is the founder of San Diego Public Library’s LGBTQIA Library Services Committee that, for over a decade, has been providing resources and programs for San Diego’s LGBTQ+ community year-round and serves as a resource for library workers in this space. Ady also serves as Co-Chair for San Diego County’s LGBTQ+ Latine Coalition which is a program of San Diego Pride and is a proud member of the LezBHonest Dragon Boat racing team bringing queer representation to this cultural sport.
Recently, Ady has taken on the role of Board Vice President for Detour Empowers, a local nonprofit with the mission to increase access to education and employment opportunities for girls of color.
Ady holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University and BA in Chicana/o/x Studies from San Diego State University.
Her favorite time is good times with her familia, her wife Jen, and their dog Botero.
