Espi Ouapou (they/she)
Espi Ouapou (wah-poo) is a 20 year old poet from San Diego, California. As a teen they were involved in SD Pride’s youth programs.
In their high school career they led anti-homophobia and transphobia initiatives to create a safer environment for queer students. They also won the Lighthouse award for student equity and anti-racism. Throughout the years, they have participated in and facilitated many protests and activist initiatives, most recently for the multiple genocides occurring around the world.
Under the pen name “Espi Love”, they have recently become a published poet and have traveled with the San Diego Poetry Slam team to compete in spoken word events.
