About:
Josh Moats is a native San Diegan, raised in Chula Vista, and a creative force in graphic design and illustration with a strong background in marketing communications. He received classical training in drawing at Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD), where he honed his skills in pencil, pen, and figure drawing. His digital design education continued at Platt College San Diego, where he mastered the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and studied 3D modeling, marketing, and advertising, earning a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts (BSMA).
Josh has contributed his talents to organizations such as the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), Impulse San Diego, Platt College San Diego, House of Blues, Festival of Trees, and Palm Springs Pride. A passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and racial justice for nearly two decades, he has participated in pivotal movements including the Women’s March, Occupy, and Black Lives Matter.
Outside of work, Josh is an avid illustrator who regularly showcases his art in community shows around Hillcrest. He’s also known for his green thumb, spending time nurturing his garden, and staying active with regular walks through Balboa Park and Lake Murray. A lifelong Nintendo fan, Josh brings creativity and playfulness to everything he does—and while he may joke about liking piña coladas and getting caught in the rain, his zest for life is no joke.
