Ana Hernández is the Executive Director of Centro Cultural de la Raza. Dedicated to ending violence and oppression across issues and identities and building whole, peaceful, and thriving communities, Ana works through combined strategies of organizing and advocacy for equity, abundance, and autonomy for all peoples; deconstructing existing systems of privilege, power, and control; and building integrated, strong voices, organizations, and coalitions for social change. Ana has worked as an organizer and leader for Centro de Trabajadores Unidos: United Workers Center; an analyst for the Equality Federation and the National Latin@ Network for Healthy Families and Communities; and directed programs and advocacy for the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and the New York City Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center. She has worked throughout as an independent consultant, providing research, documentation, and strategic and programmatic support to the movements for im/migrant, gender, racial, and labor justice, for organizations including the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, Political Research Associates, the United Nations Population Fund, and the Women of Color Network. Ana’s essays and analysis have been featured by diverse platforms including Al Jazeera English, Feminist Studies, Latino Rebels, Venezuelanalysis.com, the Vermont Journalism Trust, and ZCommunications.
