Dwayne Crenshaw is a native San Diegan and is currently the chief executive officer of RISE San Diego, which is committed to fostering urban leadership and civic engagement. He previously served as executive director of San Diego Pride and the Coalition of Neighborhood Councils, advancing issues of community development and social justice. Prior to his roles in nonprofit management, Dwayne had eight years of experience as an aide to state and local elected officials following his early career teaching in public schools.
Crenshaw graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from San Diego State University. He completed his master’s in government coursework at CSU Sacramento and earned his law degree from California Western School of Law. Since the age of 13, Dwayne has given much of his personal time serving as a youth mentor, political activist and community volunteer. Dwayne’s current community service includes membership on advisory boards to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Hoover High School Social Justice Academy and the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees.

San Diego Pride raises funds primarily through festival ticket and beverage sales, and through sponsorships, and exhibitor fees. These funds support San Diego Pride’s community philanthropy which has distributed more than $2.5 million in advancement of its mission to foster pride, equality, and respect for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities locally, nationally, and globally.
