Go to the Polls!

Howdy Pride Family!

Do you feel like our country’s in the dumps? Do you wish to see a congressional delegation from San Diego that staunchly defends LGBTQIA+ people and interests? Well, we’ve got an opportunity to put democracy into action!

We’re Voting? Again?

Yes — believe it or not — we’re (un)lucky enough to have another election before the 2026 midterms. While another election can feel time-consuming and costly, this one matters. Your turnout will have huge ramifications for trans and intersex healthcare, LGBTQIA+ protections, and essential government programs that keep our people housed and fed.

This November 4th, Californians will vote on Proposition 50, a constitutional amendment that would temporarily suspend California’s independent redistricting commission until after the 2030 census — replacing it with a single-use congressional map.

What does that mean? Essentially, this amendment would change who represents us in Congress for this next cycle, with citizen control returning afterward.

So Here is the LGB-Tea

We need more LGBTQIA+ people and allies in government to combat the worst of the attacks against our community. Over the last year, we’ve seen how quickly a fascist government can erode rights that took decades — and countless LGBTQIA+ lives lost to violence and negligence — to build.

Voting may not always feel cathartic, but it is one of the tools that’s helped us reclaim dignity and recognition — rights queer and trans people have always been entitled to.

Do these simple things to progress our movement:

  1. Verify that you’re registered to vote, NOW!
    1. If you are not registered to vote, you can complete a “Same-Day” registration at any in-person voting center in San Diego County or the County elections office.
  2. Join our leadership team! We’re seeking passionate, curious, and intentional folks to serve as Advocacy Specialists and help build LGBTQIA+ power in San Diego.
  3. Find your local polling place here.
    1. If you are voting by mail, note that ballots returned to the post-office ON election day (Nov. 4th) may not count.
