Title: Education & Enrichment Director

Bio: Gaia is the Education & Enrichment Director of She Fest, a program of San Diego Pride, and has been a member of its volunteer planning committee for six years. She Fest is dedicated to uplifting, supporting, empowering, and connecting queer women, non-binary people, and 2SLGBTQ+ people who find community with these identities on unceded Kumeyaay and Luiseño land (San Diego region) through community-building, arts, education, and advocacy. Our program is celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2024! Gaia, a San Diego local, has been organizing since high school. Much of her work in community has been focused on furthering and defending LGBTQIA+ rights and wellbeing; youth civic engagement; and equitable access to medicine and health care. Since 2017, she’s worked as Digital Organizer at the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties, contributing to efforts to empower volunteer leaders and advocate around issues like immigrants’ rights, policing, housing inequity, and the criminal legal system. She’s inspired by the loved ones and organizers on whose shoulders she stands and whose experiences ground the interconnected movements she holds dear. Gaia holds a bachelor’s degree in geography and sociology from the University of Edinburgh.
