Phyllis Jackson

Phyllis Jackson was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and moved to San Diego in 1977. Currently, she is the Residential Services Coordinator with The Association for Community Housing Solutions (TACHS). Previously she was the Executive Director for Karibu Center for Social Support and Education (CSSE). Phyllis has worked with UCSD’s HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center as a Community Outreach Representative, reaching out to people of color to encourage them to get involved in HIV/AIDS related research. She worked as a Case Manager at CRASH, Inc. (Community Resource and Self-Help) a community-based drug/alcohol treatment program. She is committed to educating and sharing information that will lead to a greater understanding and prevention of HIV, particularly among the people of color and women’s communities.

Phyllis admits that her strongest asset is her ability to be candid and straightforward. She also is an active member of Christ Chapel of North Park and says that her unshakeable faith in God keeps her grounded.
