Teevrat Garg (he/him) is an Associate Professor of Economics at UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy, where his work focuses on environmental policy, sustainable development, and economic challenges facing communities globally. His research on climate adaptation, energy transitions, and economic development has been featured in outlets such as The New York Times and Science Magazine. He is also a co-founder of pow-dr Technologies, a start-up specializing in smart energy solutions. Teevrat serves on the Board of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE) and has extensive experience leading academic programs, organizing conferences, and supporting professional development initiatives. In 2024, he co-organized a national mentoring conference for early-career LGBTQIA+ scholars in economics bringing over 100 participants to San Diego. Teevrat’s connection to San Diego Pride is deeply personal—having attended his first Pride parade here in 2016, he is passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community amidst evolving challenges. He is excited to help strengthen year-round programming and community events, bringing his experience in education, research, and organizational leadership to the Board.

These funds support San Diego Pride’s community philanthropy which has distributed more than $2.5 million in advancement of its mission to foster pride, equality, and respect for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities locally, nationally, and globally.
