Cara Dessert
Immigration and asylum as an LGBTQ issue
Caroline (Cara) Dessert, Esq. is the Chief Executive Officer of The San Diego LGBT Community Center. Prior to being named CEO, she served as the organization’s Chief Development and Community Engagement Officer. A queer Latina, Dessert is an attorney and non-profit executive with 15 years in social justice leadership.
Bixby Marino-Kibbee
Support for our trans youth and community
Bixby Marino-Kibbee [they/them/theirs] is a non-binary, transmasculine, queer licensed clinical social worker. They have worked in the fields of social services and mental healthcare since 2005, providing LGBTQIA-affirming care to youth and adults, and their families. Bix was born and raised in San Diego but spent years living and working on the east coast in Virginia and Boston before moving back to San Diego in 2011.
Dwayne Crenshaw
Keynote Speaker
Dwayne Crenshaw is a native San Diegan and is currently the chief executive officer of RISE San Diego, which is committed to fostering urban leadership and civic engagement. He previously served as executive director of San Diego Pride and the Coalition of Neighborhood Councils, advancing issues of community development and social justice.
