Gender & Advocacy Project: Transgender Day of Remembrance: Rooted in Resilience

Join us for an evening of reflection, community, and healing as we honor the lives of our transgender siblings lost to violence and bigotry. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Resilience: Honoring our Timeless Truths,” invites us to reflect on the strength and beauty of our community, anchored in the sacred and transcendent experience of gender diversity that has existed throughout history. All are welcome to gather with community for this free event. 

Event Schedule:

• 5-6 PM: Free community dinner provided by Sunny Street Outreach and a dessert potluck. Bring a sweet treat to share if able!

• 6-8 PM: Vigil, ceremony, and community sharing space.This year, in light of recent events, instead of designated speakers we will offer space for attendees to share their own messages of resilience, reflections, and hopes. Together, we will read names, light candles, and hold space for healing and connection.

Accessibility Details:

• The event space and bathrooms are wheelchair accessible.

• ASL and Spanish interpretation will be provided at the event.

• Masking is encouraged to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees.

In these challenging times, we come together to find strength in the legacy of our “transcestors,” celebrate our survival, and honor the power of living authentically beyond gender norms. We look toward a liberated future for all by leaning on the achievements of our predecessors in the fight for civil rights and bodily autonomy.
