Dr. Eric Rafla-Yuan & Dr. Sean Kenmore

Eric Rafla-Yuan and Sean Kenmore met as chief residents at UC San Diego and have built a partnership grounded in service, advocacy, and community care. Eric is a psychiatrist, educator, and health policy leader who helped create the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline while serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and now leads statewide efforts to make crisis care more equitable and accessible across California. He also serves in national LGBTQ+ medical leadership roles and cares for vulnerable patients in San Diego’s public health system. Sean is Chief of Hospital Medicine at the VA San Diego Healthcare System and a clinical professor at UC San Diego, where he trains future physicians and co-directs the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Elective focused on improving affirming care for LGBTQ+ patients. Together, Eric and Sean are committed to advancing health equity, mentoring the next generation of healthcare providers, and ensuring historically underserved communities receive compassionate, inclusive care. Their shared dedication to medicine, advocacy, and each other reflects the power of partnership as a force for collective wellbeing.
