Interim Co-Executive Director

Sarafina Scapicchio serves as an Interim Co-Executive Director for San Diego Pride.

Most recently, she served as the Deputy Executive Director, providing strategic and operational leadership in the efforts to fund Pride’s robust and innovative year-round programming. For nearly two decades she has successfully brought her leadership in philanthropy and nonprofit management in the LGBTQIA+ community by working with individuals, corporations, elected officials, and community stakeholders to secure vital funding and advocate for equity.

She holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from the University of San Diego, and a master’s in Social Work from San Diego State University. She holds a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy as well as a certificate in Workforce Trends and Equity from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.

She has volunteered as Membership Chair for Women Give San Diego, and as the Vice President of Inclusion on the Board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, San Diego Chapter. She has served on the planning committee of She Fest, San Diego’s Trans Day of Empowerment, the Tracie Jada O’Brien Trans Youth Scholarship Fund, and the Voluminous Arts Halloquium committee. For her dedicated work in the LGBTQIA and HIV communities, she has been recognized with the Barbara Blake Leadership Award in 2009, named Woman of the Year at the 2014 Nicky Awards, and given the Toni Puente Equality Award in 2017.
