Sarafina Scapicchio is a queer femme who brings over a decade of fundraising expertise to her role as the Director of Philanthropy at San Diego LGBT Pride. Working with individuals, corporations, elected officials, and community stakeholders, she has successfully secured millions of dollars in support for nonprofits on both coasts, including: The San Diego LGBT Community Center, Girl Scouts San Diego, Boston Lyric Opera, and Community Servings. For her dedicated work in the LGBTQIA and HIV communities, she has been recognized with the Barbara Blake Leadership Award in 2009, named Woman of the Year at the 2014 Nicky Awards, and given the Toni Puente Equality Award in 2017. She holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from the University of San Diego, and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. She is certified in Fund Raising Management by Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy and in Workforce Trends and Equity from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. In her spare time, she volunteers her time as Membership Co-Chair of Women Give San Diego, as the Inclusion Chair for the Association of Fundraising Professionals San Diego Chapter, and is Event Committee member for the San Diego Trans Day of Empowerment and the Tracie Jada O’Brien Trans Youth Scholarship Fund. She resides in Allied Gardens with TJ, her husband of 10 years, and their rescue dog Lolli.
