What to Expect at Spirit of Stonewall Rally

  • The Spirit of Stonewall Rally is a ceremony to honor our origins, celebrate those who are leading the way, and call our community to action around some of our movement’s most pressing issues. There will be an awards ceremony, speeches, and performances.
  • An accessible seating area is available in the front. Limited additional seating is available at a first-come, first-served basis. Otherwise, room is available to stand and watch the Rally.
  • The event is on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 6-7 PM.
  • The event is at the Hillcrest Pride Flag (1500 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92103)
  • This event is free and open to the public.

Service Animals

  • Service animals are permitted throughout this event.
  • Accessible seating will be provided in the front with room for a service animal.
  • Non-service animal pets and emotional support animals are discouraged from attending this event as it is crowded and there will not be much room for movement. Owners whose animal is causing a disruption will be asked to leave the event.
  • Service animal relief areas will be at any grassy or dirt patches along Normal St. Waste can be discarded at any of the trash cans throughout the event. 

Mobility Accessibility Information

  • The Spirit of Stonewall Rally is accessible to all mobility devices.
  • Accessible seating will be provided.

Sensory Accessibility Information

  • Here are some examples of sensory stimulation that you may encounter at Spirit of Stonewall Rally:
      • Music and speeches, microphone noises
      • Cheering and clapping from the crowd
      • Around 1,000 people who may be talking before and after the event
      • Bright colors and lights
      • Noises and scents from the nearby street and restaurants
  • Volunteers and event coordinators are encouraged to refrain from wearing scented products at this event.
  • Headphones and fidget toys can be made available for use at this event. Please contact [email protected] or (619) 289-8842 to request this so we can plan to bring these for you.

Communication Accessibility Information

  • American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation will be provided for this event.

Transportation and Parking

  • Limited street parking is available as well as parking at the DMV, which can be accessed via Cleveland Ave.
      • Limited ADA parking is available on University Ave. and surrounding streets, as well as in the DMV lot.
  • Public transportation options: 
      • Bus 1 – Get off at stop University Ave. & Normal St. (150 ft. from entrance) or  University Ave. and Richmond St. (400 ft. from entrance)
      • Bus 11 – Get off at stop University Ave. & Normal St. (150 ft. from entrance) or  University Ave. and Richmond St. (400 ft. from entrance)
      • Bus 10 – Get off at University Ave. & Park Blvd. (0.2 miles from entrance, downhill) or University Ave. & Vermont St. (0.2 miles from entrance)
      • Bus 215 – Get off at University Ave. & Park Blvd. (0.2 miles from entrance, downhill)
      • If you use MTS Access, you can set your drop-off location to 3900 Normal St, San Diego, CA 92103. (Please note this service may be limited or unavailable at this time.)

COVID-19 Information

  • San Diego Pride adheres to best-practice COVID protocols based on local, state, federal, and global health guidelines.
  • As we navigate a world where COVID continues to be present, we ask that you not attend if you test positive for COVID, feel sick or ill or present any symptoms associated with COVID.
  • Face coverings, vaccinations, and obtaining a negative COVID-19 test, if accessible to you, are strongly recommended for attending this event.
  • This event will be outside. Guests may be in close vicinity with one another.
  • Masks and hand sanitizer will be available at this event.
  • Please follow all CDC guidelines and recommendations for your safety and the safety of others.

Food Information

  • No food is provided at the Stonewall Rally. 
  • Outside food is welcome, and there are many great restaurant options around Hillcrest for dining before or after the event.
