Supporting LGBTQ Youth

Maria Schembri

Maria Schembri (she/her) is a mother, educator, animal lover, and youth advocate. She grew up in South San Diego and graduated from SDSU. She was an English teacher in East County for two decades. She was also her school’s GSA advisor, and she coordinated a GSA collective in the district to connect and support the GSAs throughout the district. Her deep love for LGBTQIA+ youth advocacy led her to her current position as Program Manager for the Office of Youth Advocacy in SDUSD where she works to create safe spaces, equitable systematic practices and supports for ALL youth.
